Why did we start?

Bayonet Model Club was started 18 years ago by Craig Murray.  He started the club as there was no other club in the western suburbs although there were a lot of modellers around.  The club does not have any elections for office bearers as such with Craig remaining President and his wife Kim as the Secretary.  All decisions that need to made by the club are discussed at meetings and usually a consensus is reached.  This ensures that all members have a fair say and input into matters although when hard calls need to be made, Craig makes them.  The group consists of a variety of different modellers from armour builders, aircraft builders, scratch builders and also those masochists that enjoy vacuform kits.  Figures are also built along with sci-fi and a few cars thrown in for good measure.  All members of the club are more than willing to share both their ideas and techniques with each other and nothing is too much trouble.  The knowledge base within the club is vast with both past and present military members, police officers, engineers and military enthusiasts.  No-one stands on ceremony with the atmosphere being friendly and open.  Members enjoy coming along once a month to have a good chat and a laugh with like-minded modellers with solid friendships being built.

Membership Fees

Bayonet Model Club is a non-profit group with no membership fees.  There never have been and never will be any membership fees and that is the way that Craig would like the club to stay.  Even on our Model Competition day, all money raised goes to charity. This is preferable with all members and that is fine with us.
